Young people, volunteers and families from across Doncaster Danum came together on 16 November for our annual Top Awards Presentation Day, held at the Hilton Garden Inn at Doncaster Racecourse. The event brought together hundreds of guests for a celebration of achievement, personal development and community impact across every section of Scouting.
The afternoon recognised young people who achieved the full range of Chief Scout’s Awards, beginning with the Acorn Award in Squirrels and progressing through the Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards and on to the Chief Scout’s Platinum and Chief Scout’s Diamond Awards. Senior achievements were also celebrated, including Duke of Edinburgh Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates and the Young Leader Award. The ceremony also included the presentation of four Kings Scout Awards to Samuel Finn, John Micklethwaite, Evie Booth and Grace Hallgate.
Youth awards were presented by Joint District Youth Lead Volunteers Samuel Finn and Paige Werrett, who play a key role in promoting youth voice across the district. Adult awards were led by James Hagyard, District Programme and Events Team Lead, and recognised the dedication of volunteers who support Scouting every week.
A highlight of the day was the presentation of the Silver Wolf to Ann Crocker in recognition of her exceptional and sustained service. Earlier this year Ann was invited to Windsor Castle where she celebrated her achievement with The Duke of Kent.
District Team Member David Plant hosted the event and guided families and volunteers through an inspiring programme that highlighted the positive difference Scouting makes in Doncaster.
David said, “Scouting in Doncaster is growing in strength and ambition and it is clear that young people want opportunities to challenge themselves and be part of something positive. We have fantastic volunteers and inspiring young members and together we are building a district that gives every young person the chance to shine.”
We would also like to thank Andy McAteer Photography for capturing the event.
Doncaster Danum Scouts would like to congratulate every award recipient and thank all volunteers, parents and supporters who help deliver Scouting across the district.
