Purpose of the Role
To lead and develop the Young Leaders’ Scheme across the district, ensuring young people are supported, trained, and empowered to contribute to section delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and deliver the Young Leaders’ Scheme across the district
- Plan and deliver training modules consistently
- Support Young Leaders within Squirrel, Beaver, Cub, and Scout sections
- Work with Section Teams to embed Young Leaders effectively
- Monitor participation, progress, and engagement
- Promote the scheme to Explorer Scouts and Section Leaders
- Support progression from Young Leader to adult volunteer

- Active and engaged Young Leaders across the district
- Strong completion of training modules
- Young Leaders making a visible impact in sections
- Clear progression into adult volunteering roles
- Positive feedback from Section Teams
Time Commitment
- Termly or regular training sessions
- Ongoing communication and support
- Attendance at relevant district meetings
Skills & Experience
- Experience working with young people (Scouts/Explorers preferred)
- Strong mentoring and communication skills
- Organised and confident delivering training
Support & Reporting
- Reports to: 14–24 Team Lead
- Works with: Explorer Scout Leaders, Section Team Leaders (all sections)
