Purpose of the Role
To support and develop Squirrel and Beaver provision across the district, ensuring strong early years Scouting that builds confidence, skills, and a love for adventure.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Squirrel Dreys and Beaver Colonies across the district
- Drive the growth of Squirrel provision in all Groups
- Support section teams to deliver a high-quality, engaging programme
- Help recruit, support, and develop volunteers within early years sections
- Share best practice and programme ideas across Groups
- Monitor section size, sustainability, and waiting lists
- Identify and support sections that require additional help
- Contribute to district events and programme delivery
What Success Looks Like
- Squirrel Dreys established across the majority of Groups
- Beaver Colonies are full, sustainable, and well-led
- Strong transition from Squirrels into Beavers
- Confident and supported section teams
- Consistent, high-quality programme delivery
Time Commitment
- Monthly Programme Team meeting
- Ongoing communication with section teams
- Support at key district events
Skills & Experience
- Experience in Squirrels or Beavers (preferred)
- Strong communication and mentoring skills
- Passion for early years development
- Organised and proactive
Support & Reporting
- Reports to: Programme & Events Team Lead
- Works with: Group Lead Volunteers, Squirrel and Beaver Section Teams, 8–14 Team Lead
