Doncaster Danum District Scouts is delighted to announce that the 58th Doncaster Scout Group has successfully launched a brand-new Beaver Colony, welcoming 24 young people aged 6 to 8. This marks the first new Beaver Colony to open anywhere in the district since before the Covid-19 pandemic, representing a significant step forward in the district’s post-pandemic growth and recovery.
The new colony is supported by an excellent team of newly recruited volunteers — Ethan Hymans, Chloe Glenton, Sammi Hibbard and Caroline Freier — led by Stephanie Plant, the Group’s Beaver Team Leader. Stephanie works tirelessly to oversee both Beaver Colonies and ensure that every young person receives a fun, high-quality and adventurous weekly programme.
With strong demand for places across Doncaster Danum, the launch of this second Beaver Colony at the 58th allows more young people to begin their Scouting journey, experience new adventures and progress confidently through the sections.
Group Lead Volunteer David Plant said:
“We’re incredibly proud to welcome 24 new Beavers into Scouting. This is the first new section launched in Doncaster Danum since Covid, and it shows the real appetite families have for positive, active and social opportunities. None of this would have been possible without the brilliant volunteers who stepped forward.”
The first sessions have already taken place, with the new Beavers enjoying team games, creative activities and outdoor fun — with many more adventures ahead.
Doncaster Danum District congratulates the 58th Doncaster on this achievement and thanks all volunteers involved for their commitment and energy.
