Beaver Challenge Day 2026

May 17 @ 09:15 - 17:00
Free – £10.00

Beaver Challenge Day 2026

Overview

The Beaver Challenge Day at Squirrel Wood is a full day of adventure, teamwork and outdoor fun, bringing together Beaver Scouts from across Doncaster Danum District and surrounding districts for a shared Scouting experience in a woodland setting.

Throughout the day, Beavers will be mixed into small teams of six to eight, giving them the opportunity to make new friends, work together and build confidence alongside others from different Groups. The event is designed to be energetic, inclusive and supportive, with a strong focus on teamwork, participation and fun.

Teams will rotate around a variety of activity bases throughout the day, ensuring every Beaver has the opportunity to experience each challenge. Activities are hands on, engaging and designed to support Beaver Challenge badges while encouraging confidence, communication and outdoor adventure.

Planned activities include:

  • Archery
  • Traditional Beaver Scout skills
  • Outdoor challenges
  • Team games
  • Creative crafts
  • Problem solving activities

Leaders from across the district will support the event by running activities and guiding teams safely around site throughout the day. This approach ensures Beavers are well supported while also giving leaders the opportunity to work together and share ideas.

To add to the excitement, prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in recognition of teamwork, effort and enthusiasm.

The District Scout Shop will also be open throughout the day, with each team having an allocated opportunity to visit.

The Beaver Challenge Day is a brilliant opportunity for Beavers to experience outdoor Scouting, build new friendships and create memories that last long after the event finishes.

Arrival & Event Timings

  • Leaders and helpers should arrive no later than 8.30am
  • All Beavers should arrive at Squirrel Wood Scout Campsite, DN6 9JQ, by 9.15am
  • Challenges will begin between 9.45am and 10.00am
  • Activities will finish at 4.30pm
  • The event will close at 5.00pm

Drop Off & Collection

We will be operating a rolling drop off and collection system throughout the event.

Parents should remain in their vehicles at all times and should not get out of their cars. This is the safest and most efficient way to manage the large number of Beavers attending the event.

Collection at the end of the day will take place outside the Warden’s Den.

Please ensure young people and volunteers remain off the roadway at all times. Site supervisors will manage traffic movement throughout the day.

Teams

Teams will be mixed across Groups to encourage teamwork, confidence and new friendships. Wherever possible, at least two Beavers from each Group will remain together.

Team lists will be issued on Monday so leaders can brief young people in advance.
