Bookings are now open for Barnby Dun Lake for the 2026 season, offering Scout Groups across Doncaster Danum the opportunity to access one of the District’s most established water activity venues.

Based at Barnby Dun Lake, the lake provides calm, enclosed water that is ideal for canoeing and kayaking sessions delivered by your own leadership teams.

Open from April through to October, the lake is suitable for all sections from Squirrels through to Explorers, making it a versatile option for groups looking to introduce water activities into their programme.

Sessions are simple to organise:

  • Run by your own leaders
  • Supported by District equipment
  • Delivered in a safe, controlled environment

Groups must ensure an Activity Notification Form is submitted in advance: > https://doncasterscouts.org.uk/aan

The cost is £2 per young person, making it one of the most accessible adventurous activities available across the District.

Barnby Dun Lake continues to be a key part of the District’s activity offer, providing young people with the opportunity to get on the water, try something new, and build confidence through adventure.
