Purpose of the Role
To lead the 14–24 provision across Doncaster Danum, ensuring strong Explorer Scout Units, a thriving Young Leaders’ Scheme, and clear progression for young people beyond Scouts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the 14–24 Team across the district
- Support Explorer Scout Units to grow, retain members, and deliver a high-quality programme
- Work directly with Explorer Scout Leaders and Unit Teams to strengthen provision
- Ensure a consistent and effective Young Leaders’ Scheme is in place
- Promote and support progression from Scouts into Explorers across all Groups
- Build strong relationships with Scout Section Team Leaders to support transition into 14–24 provision
- Monitor membership, retention, and performance across the 14–24 age range
- Support the delivery of district-level opportunities for Explorers
- Recruit, support, and develop volunteers within the 14–24 Team

- Explorer Units are sustainable, growing, and well-led
- Clear and consistent progression from Scouts into Explorers across the district
- Increased retention of young people aged 14–18
- Young Leaders are active, supported, and making a positive impact
- Strong communication between Scout Troops and Explorer Units
Time Commitment
- Monthly District Leadership Team and 14–24 Team meetings
- Regular communication with Explorer Leaders and Scout Section Teams
- Support for key events and activities throughout the year
Skills & Experience
- Experience within Scouts (preferably Scouts or Explorers)
- Strong leadership and organisational skills
- Passion for youth development and retention
- Ability to build relationships across different sections
Support & Reporting
- Reports to: District Lead Volunteer
- Works with: Explorer Scout Team Leaders, Scout Section Team Leaders, Young Leaders Team Lead
