DESCRIPTION:Are you ready to complete your Expedition Challenge and take the next step towards your Chief Scout’s Gold Award? \nThis expedition gives Scouts the opportunity to plan\, complete and reflect on a real outdoor challenge\, building teamwork\, confidence and independence along the way. \n\nEvent Overview\nThis two day expedition will see Scout teams walk from 28th Sprotbrough Scout HQ to Squirrel Wood\, covering approximately 15km and completing the full Expedition Challenge Award. \nFollowing an event briefing\, teams will plan their own route and complete a route card with support from the District Events Team before setting off. Throughout the expedition\, Scouts will navigate independently\, make decisions as a team and develop their navigation\, teamwork and outdoor skills. Teams should distribute the group equipment fairly between members before setting off. \nTents may either be dropped off at 28th Sprotbrough Scout HQ before the event for transport by the District Team or taken directly to Squirrel Wood by leaders before joining the expedition. \n\nImportant Information\n\nKnives are not permitted.\nGroups must ensure Scouts are familiar with using Trangia stoves before attending the event.\nLeaders will accompany their team throughout the expedition in a supervisory role\, allowing Scouts to make decisions\, navigate and solve problems independently.\n\n\nBooking & Payment\n\nBookings open: 13 April 2026\nBookings close: 12 June 2026\nGroups must book online\nEach team must have a named walking leader\nYour Group will be invoiced for all places booked\nPayment should be made by bank transfer before the event\n\n\nLeader Information\n\nOne leader is required per team (maximum ratio 1:7).\nLeaders may either:\n\nMeet at Squirrel Wood at 7:30am to leave vehicles before being transported by minibus to 28th Sprotbrough Scout HQ\, or\nMeet directly at 28th Sprotbrough Scout HQ\, Anchorage Ln\, Doncaster DN5 8DT at 8:00am.\n\n\nVolunteer marshals should meet at 28th Sprotbrough Scout HQ at 8:00am.\nParking at 28th Sprotbrough Scout HQ is limited. As leaders will finish the expedition at Squirrel Wood\, returning to collect vehicles during the event will not be possible.\nThe event is delivered under the Nights Away Permit of James Hagyard. DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT IS NOW CANCELLED\nWhat’s happening at Doncaster Mini Jamboree? \nThe Doncaster Mini Jamboree (Bungle-ee) kicks off in style on Friday night with a vibrant opening ceremony that sets the tone for the whole weekend. Expect colour\, music and energy as groups come together to celebrate cultures from around the world. With flag moments\, group performances and shared celebrations\, it is the first chance to feel the buzz of a true Mini Jamboree and the moment Bungle-ee really comes to life. \nSaturday is packed from start to finish with adventure and discovery. Young people will dive into a full programme of activities across the site before the afternoon transforms into a celebration of culture. Each group will represent a country\, bringing its traditions\, creativity and spirit to life in an exciting Jamboree style atmosphere. As the sun sets\, the site will glow with campfire magic\, music and laughter\, followed by a disco and evening entertainment that keeps the excitement going. \nSunday brings the energy right back up with the Doncaster Mini Jamboree (Bungle-ee) Mini Olympics. Teams will take part in a series of fun\, competitive challenges that test teamwork\, determination and Scout skills. With plenty of cheering\, friendly rivalry and shared achievement\, the weekend will close with tired legs\, happy faces and memories that will stay with everyone long after the tents come down. \nExpressions of interest have given us a great starting point. We are now open for closer confirmation of numbers and deposits so the event team can move into the next stage of planning and confirm infrastructure\, activities and suppliers. \nOur target is 350 attendees. \nIf we do not reach that number\, unfortunately the event becomes financially unviable. The Doncaster Mini Jamboree (Bungle-ee) is designed to be ambitious\, high energy and unforgettable for our young people\, so we need to ensure we have adequate numbers to create the memorable event we are all aiming for. \n\nTimings\n\nLeaders will be able to arrive from Thursday to set up their group areas\, with check-in opening on Friday morning\, staying open until all groups have arrived and checked in. Exact arrival times will be shared closer to the event.\nArrival time for young people is from 6:00pm on Friday to allow our volunteer team to arrive & prepare for full arrivals.\nThe event closes on Sunday afternoon after the Scout Skills Challenge and the final ceremony. We expect departures to begin from 2pm.\n\n\nWhat to bring\nGroups will need to bring: \n\n\n\nTents\nCooking equipment\nGas and fuel\nTables and shelters\nSection kit\nPersonal kit for each young person\nGroups will be responsible for their own catering. Activities are designed to support Squirrel badges and early skills development while encouraging teamwork\, confidence and participation. \nPlanned activities may include: \n\nSimple Scout skills\nOutdoor games\nCreative crafts\nNature activities\nTeam challenges\nHands on outdoor activities\n\nLeaders will remain with their own Groups throughout the day\, supported by the district team running activities across the site. The event is designed to be energetic\, inclusive and supportive\, with a strong focus on teamwork\, participation and fun. \nTeams will rotate around a variety of activity bases throughout the day\, ensuring every Beaver has the opportunity to experience each challenge. Activities are hands on\, engaging and designed to support Beaver Challenge badges while encouraging confidence\, communication and outdoor adventure. \nPlanned activities include: \n\nArchery\nTraditional Beaver Scout skills\nOutdoor challenges\nTeam games\nCreative crafts\nProblem solving activities\n\nLeaders from across the district will support the event by running activities and guiding teams safely around site throughout the day. This approach ensures Beavers are well supported while also giving leaders the opportunity to work together and share ideas. \nTo add to the excitement\, prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in recognition of teamwork\, effort and enthusiasm. \nThe District Scout Shop will also be open throughout the day\, with each team having an allocated opportunity to visit. \nThe Beaver Challenge Day is a brilliant opportunity for Beavers to experience outdoor Scouting\, build new friendships and create memories that last long after the event finishes. \n\nArrival & Event Timings\n\nLeaders and helpers should arrive no later than 8.30am\nAll Beavers should arrive at Squirrel Wood Scout Campsite\, DN6 9JQ\, by 9.15am\nChallenges will begin between 9.45am and 10.00am\nActivities will finish at 4.30pm\nThe event will close at 5.00pm\n\n\nDrop Off & Collection\nWe will be operating a rolling drop off and collection system throughout the event. \nParents should remain in their vehicles at all times and should not get out of their cars. DESCRIPTION:Cub Challenge Day 2026\nOverview\nThe Cub Challenge Day at Squirrel Wood is an action packed day of adventure\, teamwork and skill building\, bringing Cub Scouts together from across Doncaster Danum District and surrounding districts for a shared outdoor Scouting experience. \nCubs will be placed into mixed teams of six to eight\, giving them the opportunity to work alongside Cubs from different Groups\, build new friendships and develop confidence in a supportive environment. The event is designed to encourage teamwork\, problem solving and independence while keeping the day fun\, inclusive and engaging for all participants. \nThroughout the day\, teams will rotate around a variety of activity bases\, ensuring every Cub has the opportunity to take part in each challenge. Activities are designed to support Cub Challenge badges and wider skills progression\, combining adventure with learning and achievement. \nPlanned activities include: \n\nArchery\nTomahawk throwing\nCooking on open fires\nTraditional Scout skills\nCreative crafts\nOutdoor teamwork and problem solving challenges\n\nLeaders from across the district will support the event by running activity bases and helping teams move around site safely throughout the day. This approach allows Cubs to challenge themselves\, develop independence and experience Scouting alongside young people from across the district. \nTo add to the excitement\, prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in recognition of teamwork\, effort and participation. \nThe District Scout Shop will also be open throughout the day\, with each team having an allocated opportunity to visit. \nThe Cub Challenge Day is a brilliant opportunity for Cubs to experience outdoor Scouting at its best\, develop new skills and create memories that last long after the event finishes. \n\nArrival & Event Timings\n\nAll leaders and helpers should arrive no later than 8.30am\nAll Cubs should arrive at Squirrel Wood Scout Campsite\, DN6 9JQ\, by 9.00am\nChallenges will begin at 9.30am\nActivities will finish at 5.00pm\nParent collection will take place at 5.30pm\n\n\nDrop Off & Collection\nWe will be operating a Drop Off and Go system throughout the event. \nParents should remain in their vehicles at all times and should not get out of their cars. This is the safest and most efficient way to manage the large number of Cubs attending the event. \nCollection at the end of the day will operate using the same system. \nPlease ensure young people and volunteers remain off the roadway at all times. Site supervisors will manage traffic movement throughout the day. \n\nTeams\nTeams will be mixed across Groups to encourage teamwork\, confidence and new friendships.
