SAILING

Sailing Club Based at Hatfield Water Park (HWP). The Danum Scout Sailing club meets on a number of Saturday mornings between April to October.

All are welcome; just come along and try it; if you like it we can develop you into a competent dinghy sailor. If you have sailed before then we can improve your skills. The club is open to Scouts, Explorers, Network and Leaders.

Sessions to start at 9.30 and finish at 3.00

Beginners 9.30 – 12.30

Intermediates 12.30 – 3.00

The sessions are open to Scouts, Explorers, Network, Leaders (helpers etc) who want to start Sailing or improve their skills. Previous experience is not essential but participants must be able to swim 50 metres in light clothing.

We can teach you from scratch, develop your existing skills or use your skills to coach others.
Leaders with some Sailing experience are most welcome, as we cannot run these sessions without adult support.

Our next 2 day beginner course will be on the weekend of 18th – 19th June 2016 at Hatfield, this would be an ideal way for novices to learn how to sail.

You will need to complete a parent consent and Health information form, Consent and health form.

What to wear:
Clothing is weather dependant. If it is warm and sunny then you need the basics of:
Swimming costume, T-shirt, wet-shoes(old trainers), towel,
I recommend a wind-proof jacket for all but the warmest days.
Wet suits are recommended when it is cold and can be hired from the centre.
A complete Spare set of clothes – you will get wet!
